Kids to Love Launches “More than a Backpack” Campaign Annual drive collects school supplies for foster children. Kids to Love is beginning its annual “More than a Backpack” campaign this month to collect school supplies for children living in foster care. The program, in its 16th year, provides pencils, notebooks and other classroom necessities so foster children can begin a new year equipped to learn. As the title of the campaign indicates, there is more to the supplies than simply learning. “Children in foster care move a lot, and often carry their belongings in garbage bags because that’s all they have,” says Lee Marshall, Founder and CEO of Kids to Love. “A backpack can double for school and for taking things such as clothes when they have to move.” Kids to Love will provide for more than 6,000 children across at least three states: Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi.
