Donating to Lee County Tornado victims

On March 6th, iHeartRadio and WHNT 19 News will team up for a telethon benefiting those affected by the tornadoes in Lee County on Sunday, March 3rd. The telethon will be from 4pm - 7pm and air on WHNT 19 news. There will be a phone number to call to make your donation, we will post that number later. Below are other ways that you can donate to help victims in Lee County, the titles link to their respective donation locations:

Long Term Recovery Fund

Set up by the Community Foundation of East Alabama

Donations: call 334-744-1020

The recovery fund has been set up for donors seeking an official conduit to contribute monetarily to the recovery effort. The Community Foundation of East Alabama will receive, hold, and disperse monies contributed to this fund in a manner deemed appropriate by the CFEA Board of Directors with input from the Lee County Emergency Management Agency, and members of a Tornado Recovery Committee. All distributions will help serve the needs of the Lee County residents who were affected by this disaster.

Contributions may be made on the Community Foundation of East Alabama by mail to Community Foundation of East Alabama, P. O. Box 165, Opelika, Alabama 36803-0165. Please make checks payable to the CFEA and designate LCTRF. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law. Bo Bikes Alabama

This fund was set up after the April 2011 tornadoes by Bo Jackson. Each year, Bo hopes to inspire Alabamians and people across the country to lend their neighbors a helping hand. Money raised by Bo Bikes Bama goes to support the Governor’s Emergency Relief Fund, specifically providing funds for the construction of community storm shelters across the state.

Salvation Army

There’s a drop down for March 2019 tornado Outbreak or viewers can call 800-SAL-ARMY (800-725-2769). They need to tell the operator the donation is for the March 2019 Tornado Outbreak.

100% of the proceeds donated to the iHeart Lee County Tornado Relief GoFundMe will go to the benefiting the Community Foundation of East Alabama;s Long Term Recovery Fund.
